Our Story
Sarah and Ryan met at Rochester Institute of Technology through their best man, Brock Boland. The first time they really met was in 2002 (Sarah’s freshman and Ryan’s junior year) at Ritchie’s, a dorm side game room. (Ryan doesn’t remember this brief meeting!)
During the summer of 2004 both Ryan and Sarah stayed in Rochester for the summer. Ryan was working at NTID as a web programmer and Sarah was working as an Apple Campus Representative. During the summer Brock invited Ryan and Sarah to hang out a mutual friend’s birthday party. When Sarah was introduced to Ryan at the party (Brock thought they didn’t know one another), she said “I know you!” even though Ryan had no idea that he had met her a few years back.
After the party Sarah confided in Brock and told him that she had a crush on Ryan. Every time that Sarah was around Ryan she was very quiet and shy, which Ryan took as a sign of not being interested. Sarah got ahold of Ryan’s screen name through a friend and started messaging Ryan when he was at work. They chatted online for awhile (even though Ryan was still not interested) and even went rollerblading one night.
Ryan and Sarah kept running into each other at various social events because of Brock. Sarah’s apartment threw a “Apartment-Warming” party at the end of August where Sarah and Ryan finally talked to each other and realized that they were both interested in one another.
They started dating in September of 2004 and have been together ever since!
