Proposal
Ryan and Sarah had been talking about getting engaged for awhile. After Ryan got his job offer from Yahoo! we went to Jared’s Galleria of Jewelery (in Rochester) to pick out an engagement ring. Sarah has extremely picky taste so Ryan did not even dare venture forward by himself. After picking out the ring, Ryan knew he had to call Sarah’s father to ask his permission. After granting his permission, Sarah’s father said, “I don’t know whether to say congratulations or my sympathies.” (Classic Mr. Friedlander humor!)
Ryan then told Sarah that he was going to take her out on two dates to two restaurants. Simply Crêpes on Friday, 6/16/06 and Mario via Abruzzi on Saturday, 6/17/06.
After dinner on Friday, Ryan suggested that they go for a walk by the Eerie Canal which is very close to the restaurant. Ryan hoping for a quiet spot found out quickly that there was a festival of hundreds of people gathered around the canal. Ryan was able to stall for about an hour until the crowd dissipated. When the coast was clear Ryan finally got on one knee and popped the question. Sarah of course, say yes!
Ryan then told the next passerby’s very excitedly that they had just gotten engaged! Ryan and Sarah quickly called their parents and Brock to tell them the good news!
